Is authenticity the new currency?
January 9, 2025In an era where artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming industries, reshaping workflows, and even redefining creativity, it’s easy to feel unsettled. Many tasks are being automated, jobs are changing—or disappearing altogether—and the sheer volume of AI-generated content can feel overwhelming.
Recently, I had the opportunity to host an introductory workshop on AI for a group of 50 people. We explored the creative possibilities of tools like Midjourney for image creation, Runway ML for transforming images into video, Suno.AI for music generation, and ChatGPT paired with ElevenLabs for voiceovers and sound design.
Our collaborative project culminated in a simple yet polished commercial for natural mineral water—conceptualized, produced, and edited in real-time using AI tools. And here’s the striking part: the quality of AI-generated content is improving at an astonishing pace.
This rapid evolution brings a certain unease. It’s hard not to wonder about the future roles of sound engineers, composers, writers, cinematographers, lighting technicians, voiceover artists, and even actors. Will they still have a place in this AI-driven landscape?
But amidst this uncertainty, I’ve found something reassuring. As someone deeply involved in the world of photography and art, I’m convinced that one thing remains irreplaceable: personality and authenticity.
In fact, I believe authenticity will become even more valuable in the years ahead.
For an artist, the medium—whether painting, photography, video, filmmaking, or even AI—is secondary. What truly matters is whether people can connect with the work. And connection happens when there’s a story—a real story—behind it. A story about the subject, about the creator, and about how they see the world.
When I create my art, I’m not just producing images. I’m sharing a part of my life, my perspective, and my journey. And that’s something no AI can replicate.
AI can generate art, but it can’t live the story.
It can’t feel loss, triumph, love, or the quiet weight of a fleeting moment.
It can’t wrestle with self-doubt, overcome obstacles, or share the joy of discovery.
These deeply human experiences form the foundation of meaningful art—and they always will.
I believe the future belongs to those who dare to be authentic—who are willing to share their stories, their struggles, and their triumphs. In a world flooded with perfectly polished, AI-generated content, real connections and genuine human experiences will stand out.
Perhaps we’re on the cusp of a renaissance—not one of tools or technology, but one of relationships. Live events, personal stories, and human connection will become more precious than ever.
Because at the end of the day, we don’t just seek perfection. We seek meaning. And meaning comes from real people navigating real challenges, sharing their lives with vulnerability and courage.
So yes, authenticity might just become the most valuable currency of our time.
And that, I believe, is something worth holding onto.
Wishing you an inspiring and authentic 2025, filled with genuine connections and creative growth!
